covered button hair clips

This is the scene I came across as I walked past M’s room. C and all of his friends had been somehow lured into “school” by the big sister. Each student had his own white board and marker- they stayed attentive for quite awhile, carefully practicing their letters. Just about the cutest, most hilarious thing I’ve seen all week.
I’ve been making covered button hair clips for the Beehive Bazaar and listening to NPR all day.  These are so easy to make and yet another way to make small fabric scraps useful again. They are basically a fabric covered button hot glued onto a bobby pin. I usually cover the glue area on the bobby pin with a bit of felt to keep things nice and tidy on the back. Also, covering up the glue area insures the glue doesn’t pull or grab the hair as it slides on.
I think these fabric covered button hair clips turned out very cute, they’re actually very addictive to make- going through fabric scraps obsessively looking for the perfect tiny picture or pattern is hard to stop. You are only forced to stop when you run out of button kits. Hot tip:  Wait for a sale at Joann’s fabric store and pick ip covered button kits in bulk
