from dream to reality- Laffy Taffy costume

Everyone around here knows that at our house Halloween dreams do come true. I will cheerily attempt- perhaps for the challenging opportunity and also because I’m a little crazy- to make any costume my kids think up. C hasn’t been wishy-washy on his costume idea this year one, months ago he settled on a piece of Banana Laffy Taffy, please.

Voila. This is a huge cut-to-the-chase here, pull-the-decorated-cake-out-of-the-fridge-on-the-cooking-show moment, because WOW, it took me a good while and a lot of puzzling to get through to this finished product. But, lucky for you (who are up to the test) I’ve got a tutorial on the way for those of you who love making costumes with foam.

Of course there’s a joke on the back- I skipped the sku, ingredients and such but included the most important part. The answer is on the other side of the flap, just like on the real wrapper. In case you can’t figure it out, and the suspense is killing you… the answer is ‘in a moooving van’ silly.

I am back to the sewing machine now… here is what I have to make before Friday:

The dress in the middle, my 15 year old daughter is all about the Mad Man look… just don’t act like Betty Draper.

Ice cream cone costume, more fun with foam.

This is a Renaissance Princess costume I’ve been told, the key feature- the dress must include a hoop under the skirt. Luckily, I have a hoop or two laying around… and no, I’m not kidding.
