a plentiful garden

September is my favorite time of year for food. You can eat almost entirely out of your garden and from local produce stands (ahh… local peaches). Everything is delicious and fresh– as it should be. This year my garden is currently a few pots of various tomatoes and a heap of basil but thanks to my neighbors- I’ve got zucchini, spaghetti squash and more tomatoes to work with. And next year- I’ve got big plans.
With fresh veggies on the mind (and in my mouth), my lovely spouse just returned from 4 weeks filming in Ireland and England and brought me a copy of this beautiful magazine that just so happened to feature handmade vegetables in their Horticultural Show spread. Well done indeed.

So I begin my Christmas list with an online subscription to Selvedge in the #1 spot. A magazine about textiles? What could be better? The British have done this one up right as usual, they always have the best design publications- include the Australians in that category too. I’ve found all sorts of joy and inspiration from it’s pages, but especially from the Horticultural Show portion of the July/August 2012 issue.
