Colorful patchwork sewing projects

Here are a few colorful patchwork sewing projects that I’ve put together with various scraps of fabrics that I’ve had piling up around the sewing studio. We all have so many tidbits of leftover fabrics that could easily go into useful projects. I like patchwork projects that aren’t quilts. Projects that are smaller and extremely useful are a happy upcycling skill to put to use.

This table runner is made with various widths of fabric scraps. The sky is the limit on color and pattern combinations. Whatever mix you have in mind or perhaps you have a certain holiday color combo you’re working toward. This project is also a great way to make placemats.

I’ve always loved the wrap around skirt, making them and wearing them. This skirt has two fabrics represented but flat pockets could be added in another fun pattern or color to add more uniqueness and fun.

So many strips of colorful scraps upcycled into this half apron. Another full piece of fabric is used for the back but there is no batting in the middle. No batting makes it more washable and reversible.

This tiered skirt is an easy project to make and can combine so many fun colors and patterns of fabric.

Let the creativity flow and use up those bits of fabric in colorful patchwork sewing projects. Upcycling scraps into useful items is a great way to give handmade gifts, teach budding seamstresses forward thinking about reuse and give back to the earth!
