Funny Halloween costume ideas

Here are a few funny Halloween costume ideas- a pineapple and garden gnomes and so many more! It turns out no one wanted to be a Christmas tree after all… I’m trying not to take it personally.

The fish taco-

Probably the biggest hit over the years and partially because it’s so transferable. I think this costume has been worn by a friend or family member every year since it’s creation. It’s made with 1/2″ thick (for the fish head) and 1″ thick foam for the tortilla, cotton fabric, craft paint (for the fish head and tortilla) and felt for the lettuce, tomatoes, cheese and fish tail.

Marie Antoinette Costume-

I didn’t make this dress, just altered it with details and I made the pannier hoop for underneath- admittedly not the best hoop I’ve ever made. Pannier style, exaggerated side hoops as was in fashion and court dress in 1750-1795, kinda tough to engineer. Made with foam, hanger wires bent to the right shape and wide ribbon to tie it on. The hard wire lines were still slightly visible in the end, I needed more foam and fabric covering the hoop. Oh, and thank goodness for wigs!

Housewife-

Henry (our young neighbor) as a housewife- making good use of his curly locks. Thanks goodness for little ones who allow their mom dress them up as housewives!

Young Policeman or Woman-

Policeman taking a break with a box of donuts… priceless really.
